Glass Animals drummer ‘learned to talk again’ after lorry crash

The drummer for indie band Glass Animals mentioned he was “extraordinarily fortunate” after recovering from life-threatening accidents sustained in a crash.

Joe Seaward suffered a fractured cranium and damaged leg and needed to be taught to “stroll, speak and browse once more” after his bike collided with a lorry in Dublin.

The accident on 2 July led the Mercury-shortlisted band from Oxford to cancel their tour of North America and Europe.

Mr Seaward mentioned: “I’ve all the time taken my physique as a right, I will not anymore.”

The band have launched two critically-acclaimed albums, Zaba in 2014, and the Mercury-shortlisted Learn how to Be a Human Being in 2016.

On Instagram he wrote: “I’m extraordinarily fortunate. My household and buddies and the docs and nurses in Dublin are outstanding folks.

“The band and my household sat subsequent to me in hospital for 2 weeks whereas I could not communicate or transfer and have not left me since, I have been sorted by the perfect.

“Watching a physique heal in actual time has been fairly wonderful, saying greater than ‘i’ is definitely very sophisticated and tiring, so is adapting to plenty of steel in your limbs.

“Your assist, messages, letters and movies have been inspiring. I am so sorry when you missed us enjoying this summer time, we’ll get again to these we missed after we can.”
